Welcome to Davenport, Iowa.Davenport is a city in the American state of Iowa that borders the Mississippi River. Travel time to: Quad City Airport, 15 minutes. Southpark, 15 minutes. The MARK, 10 minutes. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 98,359.
Davenport, Iowa, is the largest of the Quad Cities both in population and land area. The city is named after Colonel George Davenport, one of the first settlers in the area.
Davenport's downtown is the home of the River Center Convention Center, a restored Art Deco theater, and also includes riverfront parks and riverboat gambling. Workers at the many financial and commercial enterprises in the downtown area love the unobstructed views of the beautiful Mississippi River.
Ringing the downtown are many spectacular 19th century mansions in an area known as the 'Gold Coast' which is currently undergoing energetic restoration.

Several well-known annual festivals take place in Davenport. Notable festivals are the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, The Mississippi Valley Fair, and the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival, dedicated to Davenport native Bix Beiderbecke. An internationally known seven-mile foot race called the Bix 7 is run during the festival.The Centennial Bridge, or Rock Island Centennial Bridge, connects Rock Island, Illinois and Davenport, Iowa. It was originally going to be named the "Galbraith Bridge", after Rock Island's mayor at the time, Robert Galbraith. He suggested it be named the Centennial Bridge, in commemoration of the city of Rock Island's centennial.
The Figge Art Museum opened in Davenport, Iowa on August 6, 2005. It was designed by London architect David Chipperfield, and will replace the Davenport Museum of Art. The museum is located in the 100 year flood plain in Davenport, but is built elevated above that level to prevent any damage from potential floods. It will also be able to stay open during 100-year floods. The museum is 100,000 square feet (9300 mē) and is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution. It is best known for having an extensive collection of Haitian art, Mexican Colonial art and pieces by Grant Wood.
Northpark Mall is a shopping mall located in Davenport, Iowa. As Davenport is part of the Quad Cities of Illinois and Iowa the mall services part of the population of these cities. The mall is located northwest of the intersection of U.S. Highways 61 (Welcome Way) and 6 (Kimberly Road) at 320 West Kimberly Road. Northpark Mall is one of two shopping malls operating in the Quad Cities area, the other being Southpark Mall in Moline, Illinois.
The River Music Experience is a multi-use music facility located in the Redstone Building in Davenport, Iowa. The purpose of the River Music Experience is to give Davenport's (and the Quad Cities Region)residents and visitors opportunities to experience America's music, and most especially the music of the Mississippi River, through live musical performances, and programs which nurture, educate and inspire musicians and music appreciators. The River Music Experience is the home of MoJo's coffeeshop and the Redstone Room. MoJo's plays host to over 150 performances per year. These range from a weekly open mike night to the top local bands. All of these are open to the public and free of charge. The Redstone Room is a world class music venue hosting national and regional acts playing original music.
